Work: Bartitsu: Martial Arts for Gentlemen Logo
Posted On May 14th, 2010.
This one is for fun. Bartitsu is an unintentionally hilarious martial arts from the early 1900’s that was made famous as a style Sherlock Holmes was written to have utilized. It was actually the inspiration for all the fighting you see in the newish Sherlock Holmes movie starring Robert Downey that came out a year or so ago. It was, in essence, a combat style for gentlemen who may be armed with nothing but their fists and a cane.
The idea of a bunch of guys dressed in suits and ties, sporting handlebar mustaches and top hats while going through combat drills just struck me as comical. Maybe I’ll open a Bartitsu Dojo someday.

I love the dark one the best, the white contrast really stands out with the figure.
You may want to add the cane in there somewhere (just for fun) ha.

Haha, the logo is the same, it’s just shown reversed to show what it looks like if it ever needed to be printed light on dark vs dark on light.
I like the cane idea.

Expanding on cane idea: Is man too small to add contrast-moustache to the head?

Yeah I thought about the mustache but I think when you scale it down, it could get lost. I think the karate belt is already a little tough to read when the logo is smaller too. Thanks for visiting and commenting by the way.
(I’ll pay you your 19 cents later)

Yeah this logo always makes me laugh. If there was a way to enlarge the guy and include like a monocle. Maybe if the hat was curved into a bowler. I’m honestly not sure hat fashion of that time.
