First iPhone Ad Debuts During The Oscars

Posted On February 26th, 2007.

Well here it is, the first iPhone Ad. I suppose it’s very contextual, it’s only charming as an advertisement during an award show for movies. I’m hoping they come up with something better, especially after their iPod ads have become so iconic (I have my doubts about how much further they can push the whole dancing silhouette thing) it would be a shame if the best they can do is cut and paste old movie clips.

Satan’s Blood Hot Sauce

Posted On February 26th, 2007.

satansblood.jpgI’m the type of person that likes spicy food as long as it enhances the flavor, rather than distracting you from it. My parents, however, have habitually eaten food so spicy it would make my eyes water. They are the type of people that think EVERYTHING tastes better when it’s hot, much to my torment when I was a growing up. So I went looking for a hot sauce to exact some form of revenge on them, and Satan’s Blood just might fit that bill. It’s rated at 800,000 Scoville Units, for some scale, good ole Tabasco Sauce rates a mere 2,140 SU.

Love/Hate Movie Review: Ghostrider

Posted On February 25th, 2007.

Ghost Rider

LOVE

The special effects were great, if gratuitous, I think some of the overacting in the film may be due to the limitations a “flaming skull” has to be emotive. The scene where the retired Ghostrider (on flaming horseback) and the new Ghostrider take that last ride alone is worth the price of admission… almost. Nicholas Cage’s hair piece!

HATE

As I mentioned, the acting is painful at times. There really is no explanation of why the “impossible to defeat” bad-guys all of sudden turn to squealing school girls, three minutes into every fight. Overly corny, I’m perfectly willing to accept a level of corniness in movies based on comic books, but it is possible to overdo it, Ghostrider is proof.

FINAL VERDICT: C-

I am no longer willing to settle for ridiculous, uninspired story-lines like this. Even fantastic four, which never gets as involved as Spiderman, was able to pull off some sort of entertainment in the acting. Ghostrider is a flop in my book, they could have made the whole thing much darker but instead decided to cater to 12 year olds.

M&Co “Five O’Clock” Wall Clock by Tibor Kalman

Posted On February 23rd, 2007.

Check out this M&Co “Five O’Clock” sold at the MOMA Store, it’s got the only number that matters if you’re working a typical work schedule. I found the clock via Uncrate (One of my favorite product blogs), but decided I’d do a little research on the designer responsible for something so strangely amusing while still being fuctional.

McDonald’s Imaginative Newspaper Advertisement

Posted On February 22nd, 2007.

While their food may still be disgusting, except for their fries, which I still like every now and then, Mcdonald’s actually got a little creative with this newspaper ad. More than likely, this is a mock up rather than something that actually ran, but it’s a neat idea.

Grindhouse Trailer

Posted On February 21st, 2007.

It’s movies like this that reminds me why Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are two of my favorite directors. I’m going to marginalize such Rodriguez bombs as say: Spykids 1, 2, and 3, I can’t blame a man for wanting to make some extra cash. Tarantino on the other hand, at least in my mind, can do no wrong. Watch the Grindhouse trailer, check out the great posters, wait a few weeks, and watch the movie.

Audi S5 Looks Sweet

Posted On February 20th, 2007.

Audi S5Audi just released offocial pictures of their upcoming coupe today, after a couple of them leaked the day before. I’m in the market for a new car, and have had my eye on the BMW 335i for some time now, but have been waiting for a) Money (always important) and b) the production date of the AWD xi model to be announced. Then Audi went and dropped this bomb. I’m not a big fan of the way Audi designs the exterior of their cars (except for the A3) but this looks pretty nice. You can read up more on what is known about the S5 by visiting Fourtitude.com

UPDATE
Audi released more official pictures of the S5, and after looking at them, I’m not so hot for the car anymore. The exterior lines aren’t as sleep as I thought they were, and the front of the car is like looking a pig dead in the face. Maybe it’s one of those cars that looks better in person, but I’ll keep researching the BMW 335i and the Lexus IS350 for now.
